The Dos Amigos, Sam Pilafian and Patrick Sheridan - Arizona neighbors and two friends united by a love of Latin music and their chosen instrument, the tuba - come to Latin music as a Miami native and ballroom dance enthusiast respectively. These two friends live for music that grooves and formed this ensemble to create dance music together in a chamber music setting. This recording, featured on NPR's "All Things Considered" represents the creative collaboration of these two innovative, landmark brass performers.
Created and developed in 1998 by percussionists, Dom Moio and Joe Garcia, the Tambores duo uses a multitude of various hand percussion instruments from around the world. These two highly sought-after Phoenix musicians combine traditional and contemporary Latin sounds and rhythms to form an atmosphere of enjoyment and percussive magic! They have recorded their innovative compositions on their self titled CD, Tambores.
